SA53 – Cycle-by-cycle current limit functionality
Protection features of the SA53-IHZ include cycle-by-cycle current limit functionality that allows the motor’s power system to "partner" with the processor or DSP to control motor current in each phase rather than settle for an overall safe limit. With cycle-by-cycle current limit, these driver’s have the ability to handle the inrush of motor start-up current without de-rating the IC, even at 5 A or greater.
In addition, a patent-pending mounting technique can increase the package’s power dissipation capabilities by 3x by placing the driver upside down "through" the board and flush mounting the heatsink.
