Murata Supplier Home Page Murata Electronics Introduces Low-Profile High Efficiency 24 Volt Input DC-DC Converters with Parallel Operation

Product ImageSmall Footprint Packed with Advanced Technology is Well Suited for Telecommunications and Data Communications Markets

Murata Electronics North America, a world-leading innovator in electronics and the largest global supplier of ceramic passive components and DC to DC Converters, has recently introduced into production the MPD6D20*S DC-DC Converter. Designed with a patented synchronous rectifier circuit, these devices achieve a 91 percent efficiency rating which minimizes excessive power consumption. This series offers a parallel operation as a standard I-sharing feature (up to 5 devices) and simplifies the implementation with an integrated reverse current prevention circuit. Ideal for use in telecommunications and data communications markets with it’s small size (40.05mm x 31.15mm x 8.0mm MAX), not only is board space saved, but no optical couplers are utilized thus increasing reliability. This superior reliability is especially important to base station manufacturers, as well as, test and instrumentation equipment.

In addition to it’s compact surface mount device (SMD) package, parallel operation (PO), high efficiency and reliability characteristics, the Murata MPD6D20*S comes equipped with a number of additional benefits for design engineers. For example, start up times can be easily synchronized with other modules by connecting the device's PO pins. Additionally, integrated input/output capacitors and EMI filtering circuits eliminate EMI noise issues as well as the need for external components. Murata has also included in the design a planar transformer via the multi-layer printed circuit board which allows the converter to offer thin and stable coil quality. Murata’s DC-DC converter is also equipped with a remote on/off switch and alarm signal output features.

Murata’s use of highly developed circuit design techniques enabled by both vertically integrated materials technologies and complete in-house manufacturing expertise ensures the most sophisticated DC-DC converter solutions, reliable lead times and redundant manufacturing capacity. Specific features of Murata’s MPD20*S DC-DC converter include:
