Winners Announced! |
| A few months ago, we challenged the engineering community to an exclusive Freescale/Digi-Key design contest. Utilizing the amazing abilities of the MC9S12NE64 16-bit microcontroller from Freescale, these individuals responded with some very interesting and creative designs for judging…
Congratulations to Brad Hanken on his grand prize winning “Automated fish feeder”. Using the NE64 on a control board, he was able to design an Ethernet enabled system very quickly. The system can be used manually (via a smart user interface utilizing an LCD and encoder switch to set up the TCP/IP settings) or via software running on a host PC. The control board polls the connected peripherals, in this case feeder modules, and can also control a stepper motor for dry feed dispensing. This design was amazing for both it’s ingenuity and expandability, Congrats Brad! We’d also like to congratulate Jean Mercier for his second-place winning Wi-Fi camera controller, utilizing the Ethernet connectivity of the NE64 to enable remote video content to be displayed on a host PC. And a congrats goes out to our third place winner, Joe Peck. Joe used the NE64 to communicate with a flight computer for amateur rocketry. This enabled download of logged sensor data to your laptop. Congratulations go out to all who entered a design, we thank everyone for their participation and ingenuity. |
