Dual LED Flash Driver The SSL3250A is a photo flash LED driver designed for battery operated mobile devices such as mobile phones and PDAs. The boost converter delivers high performance and drives a single or dual, high brightness LED at up to 500 mA with over 85% efficiency. The driver can be programmed to operate in Flash, Torch or Indicator/Video-on mode.

NXP Semiconductors’ SSL3250A LED flash driver is ideal for driving up to two high brightness LEDs in space-constrained mobile devices. Its small size, high internal switching frequency (1.2 MHz) and the need for only 3 external components keep the space requirements in a design to an absolute minimum.

Safety has been a prime focus when designing the SSL3250A and protection features include a time-out function, which can be programmed via the I²C-bus interface. The flash current can also be lowered quickly during RF transmission using optional external setting resistors, to take into account specific mobile phone requirements.
